Building the Shed
It became abundantly clear in those early firings that we needed to cover the kiln, but it took until 2004 to do it. Working with my two assistants at the time, Justin Coleman and Paul Krause, the three of us laid out the footings and brought in a concrete company to pour them. Once in, we set all of the vertical posts for the building. I hired a crane service to help us set the beams, and once they were in place, we laid out the roof.
All in all it took a few months, but once done, the new shed building set the stage for the next phase of the project, which was to rebuild the anagama and add two need chambers to the back end.
